I must say when I received an email with the header ‘Christmas’ I did a double take. It feels far too early to be thinking about Christmas already, but actually the year is speeding by and it is after all, October.
And if it’s October it means that it’s nearly time for the Glenshiel Christmas Fair.
The Glenshiel Christmas Fair is a much anticipated event by all of Johannesburg. Glenshiel is a renowned Herbert Baker mansion in the suburb of Westcliff. The home is a national monument up on the Westcliff Ridge with stunning views of Johannesburg. Glenshiel is not usually open to the public, so this is a fabulous opportunity to see the property, home and gardens. And of course, to shop!
You will find over 80 different stalls, showcasing the best of local-syle entrepreneurs. There is fashion, jewellery, handmade toys, arts and craft, ceramics, fabrics, linen, and some of the most yummy foods – mince pies, Christmas cakes, macaroons, puddings and tons of fun and fabulous stocking fillers.
There’s a Gala preview evening on 29 October, 5 to 9 pm, at R 175.00 per person including snacks and a complimentary drink. And then the market is open 30 October to 01 November, from 9 am daily, at R 40 entry fee.
Don’t miss it. You’ll find some very special things.
