Johannesburg is a major shopping destination for the continent of Africa whilst Rosebank is fast becoming the city’s third largest business centre, after Sandton and the inner city. The close proxmity of the Gautrain station is further boosting business and property developments in the area. Rosebank’s CBD may be the business and commercial hub but the surrounding region is home to other major malls with high-end retail shops and corporate headquarters. There are major hotels like the Hyatt Regency and Crowne Plaza Johannesburg: The Rosebank in the immediate vicinity whilst the suburbs around the CBD are host to The Wanderers Protea and the Southern Sun Hyde Park amongst others. They also have their own smaller commercial centres with owner-run businesses, retail shops, restaurants and medical and dental practices - and this is where you’ll find our Johannesburg Guesthouses.

Rosebank is home to the Corporate Headquarters of both Sasol and Total SA (Pty) Ltd. Standard Bank’s new R1.6bn centre at Rosebank (built according to Green Building Council guidelines) has parking for almost 4,000 cars with a public piazza taking up half of the city block. Other corporates in the area include British & Olympic Airways, El Al Israel and China Airlines.

The 114 bed Netcare Rosebank Hospital is a smaller, specialised hospital that offers a variety of disciplines with a niche in Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics and Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. The facility’s Accident and Emergency Department is open from 7am until 10pm and is always staffed by a General Practitioner.

All the major retailers such as Edgars, Stuttafords and Woolworths are represented within Greater Rosebank and its CBD.

In Rosebank itself are three interconnected shopping and eating areas: The Grande Dame of South African retail is at Hyde Park Corner. It was the first fully enclosed decentralized shopping centre in South Africa, and has evolved to meet the demands of the modern high-end shopper. The youngest kid on the block though is Melrose Arch with an array of one-of-a-kind international high-street boutiques.
