The shops are filled with chocolates and teddy bears, there are hearts aplenty, and the day that we love, or hate, is fast approaching. Valentine’s Day. If your relationship is important to you, take my (love) advise and make plans!. Book for one (or more) of the below:-

The Love ConcertJames Ingram and Johnny Gill are all set to wow fans at Gallagher Estate in Midrand. These R&B crooners are performing a spectacular one-off concert. James and Johnny are legendary, a Grammy winner and double Oscar nominee, and they will knock your socks off. And your partners! Are you a James Blunt fan He’s playing at Carnival City in the Big Top Arena. The show is at 7:00 pm and tickets from R 360. There is nothing more schmaltzy than Mr Blunt and your partner will be forever in love with you. Book at www.viagogo.co.za and dress as schmaltzy as Mr Blunt himself!

Passenger Live is playing at The Zoo Lake on Saturday at 12:30 pm, and tickets are available from www.webticket.co.za. Passenger is a British folksinger / songwriter, and young teens go wild for him. So – spoil your boyfriend or girlfriend and book your tickets now. Ask your mom for money. Dress style – grunge, hip, swag!

Are you always ‘friend-zoned?’. Head to The Living Room at Maboneng where there will be kissing booths, hook-up helpers (ha ha) and plenty of tequila to help shy singles find their love. George Hay Park in Parkview are hosting their regular Valentine’s Picnic, and this is a perfect outing for families friends and doggy lovers. Take a blanket and some bubbly, pack a basket of finger food or buy from the fabulous Johannesburg Mother Truckers and spend the day lazing under the sun, chatting and eating. Dress casual, but dress up your dogs!

The Johannesburg Festival Orchestra will be live at The Sheds, No 1 Fox Street, starting at 7 pm. Tickets are R 250. Go early, get a great table and enjoy champagne and oysters, Mexican food, burgers or craft beer – there is so much choice here – and have a great evening in one of Jozi’s most hip and happening spots. You may want to spend the evening under the stars at the Johannesburg Planetarium. There is a show at 6 pm and another at 8 pm, R 40 per adult and there are special prices for kids and senior citizens. The Planetarium is on Yale Road at Wits University, and bookings are essential, 011 – 717 1392. Dress – shiny!

Take out your fishnets, put on your black lipstick and go see The Rocky Horror Picture Show out at Montecasino. Tickets start at R 125 and book NOW, at www.computicket.co.za. And you can go have a delicious meal before, or after, and try The Gourmet Garage for the yummiest of burgers. (may not be so romantic, but it is definitely fun!) Dress – outrageously!

If none of the above appeal, head to Parkhurst close to all our Johannesburg Guesthouses, for a fabulous lunch or dinner, take a walk at Emmarentia or Delta Park, sip wine at an outdoor cafe in Melville, relax, eat, sip and enjoy the day. Fall in love!
